How my journey began

My wine journey started about 30 years ago.  I found wine so intriguing; however, I was intimidated by it, too.  It seemed to have an air of pretension, but I couldn’t shake this desire to learn more about it.  I started taking every wine tasting class available. It was a great way to try wines I wouldn’t have otherwise picked from the wine store.  It was during these classes, sampling different wines from different regions that I  started to develop my pallet. I gained a knowledge of the different varieties, how and where they are grown and the vinification process. Wine became more approachable as I learned more about it.

What I started to realize is that wine is so much more than a delicious libation.  It is a form of commerce, a source of livelihood, and is a root of families.  Wine is a form of art, but it isn’t the type you admire from afar; it is the kind that draws you in and evokes an emotion. Along my trek, I felt this overwhelming urge to debunk the mystery of wine and its ostentatious stigma.

I want to share with others what I’ve learned.  So I earned my Italian Wine Scholar Certification through the Wine Scholar Guild and then worked to gain my Certified Specialist of Wine certification through the Society of Wine Educators. I received my American Wine Expert Certification through the Napa Valley Wine Academy and most recently I earned my WSET2 through the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust. I am very proud to say I passed my exam with Distinction. Tasting is a great way to start your wine journey! Along the way you will learn there are no rights or wrongs to your opinions, and as your personal sommelier we can discover what you like and most importantly make it fun!
